Cobb Celebrates Opening of New Lynchburg Office, Eyes Renovations in Roanoke

Last month, Cobb’s Lynchburg office successfully transitioned to a new location closer to the heart of the city’s business sector. The move is the latest in a string of renovations and offices, kicked off by a grand opening of their Richmond-area headquarters in February of 2016.

Company president Toni Gorveatt described the move as the next step in a series of renovations for each of Cobb’s locations.

“Being centrally located in all of our markets is important,” said Gorveatt. “We want to be accessible to our customers and provide facilities that can showcase the equipment and services we offer.”

Although the new office is a bit smaller than it’s previous location, the new space features a much bigger showroom space that will allow sales specialists to give more in-depth demos on Cobb’s products.

“Our Lynchburg team consists of some of our longest tenured employees and we wanted to provide them a space they can enjoy and feel proud about bringing current and potential clients into,” said Gorveatt. “We’ve already heard some great feedback from our Lynchburg team about how they’re recharged and excited for the year ahead.”

Less than five years ago, Cobb opened a new facility and warehouse location in Roanoke, which is where all of its parts, supplies and equipment resides for its Western market. Recently, the Economic Development Authority of Roanoke announced a partnership with Cobb as a part of its mission to revitalize their business sector. The program, specifically called the Commercial Matching Grant Program, offers a grant to businesses to kickstart a beautification of its facilities externally.

Cobb will take advantage of the grant to update their Roanoke office’s signage, landscaping, exterior facade and parking lot.

“Roanoke has always been an extremely business-friendly city, and this grant program is just one example of that dedication to their business sector,” said Cobb’s vice president of operations, Tom Cavanaugh. “We’re just extremely grateful that they reached out to us with this great opportunity to revitalize our area.”

Cobb plans to roll out changes to its Eastern branches in the near future as well. Plans are in motion to move their Virginia Beach office to a new location with a target date of winter 2018.

Cobb Technician Recognized with National Award

Long-time Cobb Technologies service technician Jason Babin was recently recognized as a Konica Minolta Pro-Tech Technician of the Month.  Jason is one of 12 winners from across the country for the month of August.

Pro-Tech Technicians of the Month are chosen for their outstanding service and technical performance.  Jason is a valued member of the team at Cobb, not only for his constant high service metric statistics, but also for his exceptional customer service.  In his own words, he “tries to anticipate the customer’s needs and fix the problems before they happen.”

“When I’m out on a call, my top priority is to keep the customer happy. Respectfully addressing any problem they may have goes a long way,” said Babin.

In addition to this award, Cobb Technologies as a whole was recently named a Konica Minolta Pro-Tech Dealer. As a Konica Minolta Pro-Tech Dealer, Cobb Technologies is one of two dealers throughout Virginia to hold this certification, which highlights a commitment to service quality.

“As for Jason winning the technician of the month award, it couldn’t have gone to a more deserving member of our team,” said Tracy Short, Vice President of Service at Cobb Technologies.  “In addition to his exceptional technical skills, our customers can never say enough great things about him.”

“I am very happy that he is being recognized for all that he brings to our company and ultimately to our customers,” said Short.

“They deserve the best, so we’ve given them the very best in Jason Babin.”

Cobb Recognized as a 2016 Canon Partner of the Year

Cobb Technologies was recently recognized as a 2016 National Canon Partner of the Year, an accolade that only 11 other dealers across the country received. In addition to this honor, Cobb also achieved Diamond PLUS dealer status for the support of Canon’s Océ product line over the last year.

Canon’s recognition of Cobb Technologies’ efforts comes as no surprise to the large format team at Cobb.

“These milestones are a testament to the successful partnership that Canon and Cobb have shared over the last 10 years,” said Tim Kitchen, Cobb’s large format product manager. “Just within the last four years, Cobb Technologies has become the most successful Océ supplier in Virginia, as well as one of the most successful in the nation.”

According to Kitchen, Cobb has made a concerted effort to hire the industry’s best and brightest technicians to complement Canon’s cutting-edge Océ wide format equipment. This, he says, has made all the difference in Cobb’s ability to offer clients an unparalleled customer service experience.

“Currently, we have 10 technicians on staff who can solve pretty much anything that our clients happen to throw at them,” said Kitchen. “In the event that they’re unable to resolve an issue, our status as a high-level Canon dealer means that we have direct access to leverage Canon’s solutions team.”

On April 20, 2017, Cobb will be hosting the Digital Print Intelligence (DPI) Workshop, a workshop designed to help print professionals get the most out of their equipment. In addition to Canon, representatives from Konica Minolta, Formax, and EFI will be on-hand to answer questions and help professionals sharpen their skill sets. Cobb Technologies Receives Konica Minolta Pro-Tech Award

Office technology supplier and servicer Cobb Technologies was recently recognized as a Konica Minolta Pro-Tech Dealer, an award that highlights the Cobb service department’s commitment to quality. Less than five dealers throughout the entire state of Virginia currently hold this certification, which required an extensive top-down examination of Cobb’s service operations.

“It is a symbol of quality,” said Tracy Short, vice president of service at Cobb Technologies. “It assures our customers that they will be receiving the best trained, most knowledgeable technicians in our industry.”

The process for selection included a rigorous year-long monitoring of Cobb’s service, support and solutions teams. The award represents a high-level of competence in the areas of technical expertise, inventory control, dispatch systems, management skills and customer satisfaction.

Cobb featured in RTD

Cobb Technologies was featured in the Richmond Times-Dispatch on July 5, 2016. The article highlighted the growth of Cobb, as well as the big move its new headquarters location in Glen Allen.

President Toni Gorveatt was featured in a sit-down interview and had a chance to discuss the Cobb’s growth from her point of view over the 20+ years she has been employed with the company and the impact Cobb’s new building will have on its future business.

“All of the decision-making is happening right here,” [Gorveatt] said. “We have the resources locally to make sure that things happen timely, so that the downtime (for customers) is minimal.”

Cobb Cuts the Ribbon on New Headquarters

On June 2, 2016, Cobb Technologies celebrated the opening of its new headquarters facility in Glen Allen with an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony. Over 70 guests attended the office technology provider’s opening, including U.S. Rep. Dave Brat (R-7th District) and several members from the Henrico County Board of Supervisors.

The new building, located on Technology Park Drive in Glen Allen, is a 63,289 square foot facility. Previously, Cobb Technologies’ warehouse had been a separate location from its office building located at the intersection of Staples Mill and Parham Road.

“We had been searching over the past few years for a new building that would allow us to integrate both our office and our warehouse space,” said Toni Gorveatt, Cobb’s president. “Once we found this location, I knew immediately that this was our next home.”

Rather than outsourcing the building’s interior design and workspace layout, Gorveatt hand-picked employees from each of Cobb’s departments to give input on the facility’s re-design.

“We know that once potential clients step foot in our new building, they’ll have a great customer experience,” said Derek Yancey, Cobb’s marketing director. “Our new building is quite literally a reflection of the hard work and dedication of Cobb’s employees.”

The company looks forward to updating its branch locations within the next few years to ensure that Cobb’s look matches its cutting-edge technology.
